China??????????

Dec 17, 2007 by yo | Posted in China |

I want to go to China for 2 weeks give or take a couple days. Where in China would you recommend that I go (I'm a young adult / not a senior citizen) for tourism or to experience China to its fullest. I'm departing from Chicago, so what city should I start in China?

Avoid Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, despite what anyone - including the people who have answered above - tell you. Tourist traps all. Going to Beijing and saying you've been to China is a bit like going to Midtown Manhattan and saying you've seen America. Its not even a little bit representative of day to day life there for the average person. I recommend Qingdao, Harbin, Dalian, Shenyang, Xiamen, or Hohhot...all middle-of-the-road cities that will offer a fine "tourist" experience while giving you a glimpse of China Shanghai or Beijing just can't provide.

Can China create money out of thin air and lend it to another country to make money?

Apr 01, 2008 by sonyboy812 | Posted in Personal Finance |

Can China do this just like how banks create money out of thin air via debt? Assuming the US pays back the debt, China will be richer. But, if US defaulted, it doesn't matter to China because they just conjured up the money in the first place.

Banks don't create money of out thin air. They have deposits from people with savings and checking accounts. They loan out this money...

China could loan dollars out too. They have a bunch of them from US people buying more chinese goods than chinese buy american goods.

good luck!

No one can just 'conjure up money'. That isn't the way the systems work.

How did China's plane crashes affect its aviation industry?

Mar 14, 2008 by Dlalk A | Posted in Aircraft |

Can anyone give any information on how China's numerous plane crashes (eg: in 2002, 2004, etc.) affect its aviation industry? Any heightened measures, controversies about their competence, perceptions by people on China's airline companies, etc.?

Overseas they have different rules and regulations on what they do to an aircraft derived from what the boss says. If they fly the aircraft in certain areas of the world they get away with it. I`m aware of to many times when they flew into the US the plane was grounded by the FAA. They just don`t care . The scary part is these U.S. companies farm out there aircraft to these places.

If you're in the US and interested in studying international relations and public affairs abroad, the University of Hong Kong has an excellent international studies program offered to students who are enrolled in George Washington University. See http://www.gwu.edu/~elliott/academics/grad/studyabroad/hku.cfm

Hong Kong U. is the oldest tertiary school in Hong Kong and was ranked at 18 among the top 200 universities in the world by the UK's Times Higher Education Supplement. Its Faculty of Social Sciences was created in 1967 and has since undergone rapid expansion and great transformation. The faculty consists of the Depts. or Politics and Public Administration, Psychology, Social Work and Social Administration, Sociology, Statistics and Actuarial Science.

In the study abroad program, students can take courses in international politics, public policy, public administration, foreign policy, and East Asian regional studies.
